Anchor Steam Beer

Anchor Steam Beer

Classic Brew!

Pour yourself a glass of this clean, crisp and bubbly beer—it’s the perfect companion for watching the game.

Anchor Steam Beer owes its deep amber color, thick, creamy head, and rich, distinctive flavor to a historic brewing process. The taste is like an American pale ale with a well defined malt body, and champagne-like carbonation. The hops make this one finish dry and clean.

The classic of American brewing tradition since 1896, Anchor Steam® Beer derives its unusual name from the 19th century when “steam” was a nickname for beer brewed on the West Coast of America under primitive conditions and without ice. It’s name likely relates to the practice of fermenting beer on San Francisco’s rooftops in a cool climate. In lieu of ice, the foggy night air cooled the fermenting beer, creating steam off the warm open pans.
