San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade

Dragon DanceThe SF Parade is the culmination of a two-week long lunar New Year celebration.

Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 5:15 to 8 PM.

The San Francisco Chinese New Year celebration originated in the 1860’s during the Gold Rush day, and is now the largest Asian event in North America.

Nowhere in the world will you see a lunar new year parade with more gorgeous floats, elaborate costumes, ferocious lions, and exploding firecrackers.

Best location to view the parade:

  • Bleacher seats you can buy along the parade route.
  • TV broadcasters area along Union Square.
  • Many people line the area around Portsmouth Square.
  • Review stand area at the end of the parade, where floats are judged
