The Sazerac

The SazeracThe Sazerac, the classic cocktail from The Big Easy, is a great drink to serve while entertaining or relaxing over the holidays. The absinthe rinse and lemon garnish come together with the Peychaud’s bitters and rye for a long, chocolatey finish.

The Sazerac
Ingredients
2 oz. Rye Whiskey
½ oz. simple syrup (1:1)
2 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters
1 bar spoon of absinthe for a rinse
1 twist of lemon

Directions
Fill your glass with ice and water to chill while preparing the drink.

Place all ingredients in a mixing glass. Stir the drink vigorously. Dump the ice water out of the chilled glass and place a bar spoon of absinthe into it to coat the glass with absinthe.

Dump the absinthe out and strain the drink into the chilled glass. Express the lemon twist over the drink and the rim of the glass and drop the twist into the drink.
