Grilled Cherry Milkshakes Recipe

Grilled Cherry MilkshakesGet ’em while they’re ripe.
These sweet, delicious signs of early summer have arrived in the market, and we can’t get enough of them. They’re only at their peak for about a month—so, don’t hold back!

We love eating them fresh, or you can try them in this recipe for Grilled Cherry Milkshakes.

Grilled Cherry Milkshakes
(Non-dairy version included)
Yields 3 to 4 milkshakes

Ingredients
2 cups vanilla ice cream (or Coconut Bliss)
1 cup milk (or light coconut milk, chilled)
1 pound fresh bing cherries
2 to 3 tablespoons honey
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions
Preheat your grill to 375º F. De-stem, pit, and halve the cherries. Spread evenly on a grill pan and grill, turning once or twice for about 10 minutes. You want the cherries bubbly and beginning to char. Remove from the heat, place in a bowl, and set in the fridge to fully chill. This step can be done in advance.

Puree the roasted cherries in your blender until smooth. Pour equal amounts into glasses.

Rinse your blender, add the remaining ingredients, and blend until smooth. Top the glasses with the milkshake mixture. Gently swirl the layers, and serve immediately with a straw and a long spoon.
