Jack London Square
Saturday, January 21st from 1 to 4 PM
Jack London Square will be celebrating the Year of the Rabbit with a fun-filled Lunar New Year event. Located in the plaza near Plank. This free event will include, performance by USCDA and Xiaopei Chinese Dance, lion dancers, martial arts performances, kids crafts, Year of the Rabbit selfies, and giveaways. This event is free and open to the public. No pre-registration is required.

Oakland Museum of California
Sunday, January 29th from 11 AM to 4 PM
Usher in the New Year and chase evil spirits away with a lucky lion dance by Developing Virtue Secondary School. Other performances include Nanta Drum Play and Pan-Gut, Pungmulnori & Dance Teams, Malaysian 24 Seasons Drumming, and Street style dance performance and lesson. There will be story time, hands-on crafts, a panel talk about the intersection between Black and Asian history in Oakland, and a closing celebration with a dragon dance. Food and beverages will beavailable. Purchase tickets on the OMCA website.

Saturday, February 4th
This Lunar New Year x Black History Month community celebration was created to strengthen, heal, and empower AAPI and Black & African-American communities! Performances include Chinese folk dance, Tae Kwon Do and Capoeira demonstrations, lion dance, harp performance, poetry and storytelling, Taiko and African drumming, and Sambafunk. There will also be a marketplace, exhibitions, and a literature fair. This is a free event open to all both in-person and live-streamed.
