A Baking Project for President’s Day

A Baking Project for President's DayYou may find yourself wondering what to do with kids who are out of school on Monday. One idea is a baking project for President’s Day—a win-win situation. The kids are occupied, and everyone gets to enjoy the delicious results.

We have chosen three recipes that are easy enough to prepare with your kids. And, they are a also great weeknight project for grownups with an urge for something tasty.

However you celebrate President’s Day, we recommend you include some freshly-baked treats!

Quick and Easy Fruit Cobbler
Nothing could be easier. You find your favorite fruit. You toss it with some sugar, a little thickener, throw some biscuits on top, and Ta-da! Yummy, tasty dessert that took no time to make. Top it with some vanilla ice cream while it’s still warm and you’ve reached nirvana.

Coconut Macaroons
We love coconut macaroons—and making them couldn’t be easier. Bonus! They are gluten-free for those friends who can’t eat gluten. You can melt some bittersweet chocolate and either dip the macaroons or drizzle it on top.

Dark Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Filling
This recipe might seem complicated, but it’s not. The cake is our go-to whenever we are craving chocolaty cakeyness. It has all of the moistness of a box cake mix but with much better flavor. The trick is to use good-quality cocoa. You can skip the chocolate glaze and simply sprinkle the cake with some powdered sugar or top slices with whipped cream.

We hope you enjoy your Baking Project for President’s Day!
