Apple-Cinnamon Infused Bourbon

Apple-Cinnamon Infused BourbonThis Apple-Cinnamon Infused Bourbon is a great, personalized gift that’s easier to make than you think. All you need are some nice bottles for presentation, and a couple of weeks to allow the flavors to infuse.

The flavors are perfect for Christmas with the combination of sweet and spicy. So, be certain to make enough for both gifts and for you to sip.

Apple-Cinnamon Infused Bourbon
Yields about 750 ml

We recommend purchasing the gift bottles first so that you know how much to make. Fancy jars can work well for gifts, too. To increase the volume, just keep doubling the ingredients.

Ingredients
6 apples—we like a sweet variety such as Honey Crisp
6 cinnamon sticks
1 750 ml bottle Bulleit Bourbon

Directions
Slice the apples and remove the core. Pack them into a mason jar along with the cinnamon sticks. (Really, any jar or jars with a good lid will do.) If you end up using more jars, just divide the apples and cinnamon evenly between them.

Top the jars with bourbon, making certain the apples and cinnamon are covered. Then, seal the jar and stash them away in a cool, dark place to infuse.

Allow the bourbon to steep for at least two weeks. You will want to mix it occasionally by turning the jar over a few times. (This is where the tight-fitting lid come in.)

The bourbon should sit for at least two weeks, or longer if you wish. The longer it sits, the more flavor and sweetness will infuse.

When you decide it is ready, strain the apples and cinnamon sticks and discard them. (They will have lost flavor). Then decant your infused bourbon into the clean gift bottles and add a nice label.
