Flor de Miel

Flor de Meil Cocktail This refreshing tequila cocktail is fantastic on its own at happy hour and also for brunch. The sweetness of the honey and the gentle spice of the cardamom blend into a deliciously.

You do need to prepare the Cardamom-Honey Syrup a day in advance. But, make extra! It is a great sweetener for tea, coffee, and many other drinks.

Flor de Miel Cocktail
Yields one drink
Adapted from Egg Shop: The Cookbook 

Ingredients
2 ounce reposado tequila
1 ounce cardamom-honey syrup
1 ounce fresh lemon juice
2 dashes Angostura bitters

Directions
Combine the tequila, Cardamom-Honey Syrup, lemon juice, bitters, and ice in a shaker and shake well. Pour the contents of the shaker into the prepared glass. Add ice and stir to incorporate. Garnish.

Cardamom-Honey Syrup
Ingredients
1 cup wildflower honey
1 cup piping-hot water
10 green cardamom pods

Directions
Combine the hot water, honey, and cardamom pods in a jar, and stir to combine. Allow the syrup to steep for 24 hours. Strain out the cardamom pods. The syrup will keep for 2 weeks when stored in the fridge in an airtight container.

Scaling the cocktail
This is an easy cocktail to scale for a group or party. (When we are ever meeting that way again!) The rations are 2 parts tequila, 1 part lemon juice, and 1 part cardamom honey syrup. The Angostura bitters can be added to the individual glasses.
