Free Days at Local Museums

Free Days at Local MuseumsThe Bay Area boasts a number of great museums. And, luckily, each month there are free days at local museums that include admission for access to their permanent collections.

You may need to pay extra for any special exhibits. And some museums require that you book tickets in advance online.

Time to begin planning some adventures for the upcoming weeks! Here is our list of free museum days:

Asian Art Museum: First Sunday of every month

Bay Area Discovery Museum: Free first Wednesdays admission for all Bay Area residents plus free admission for Medi-Cal and CalFresh recipients.

Berkeley Art Museum & Pacific Film Archive: First Thursday of every month. Plus admission is free to UC Berkeley students, faculty, and staff—plus all children18 & under.

Berkeley Botanical Garden
Free for CA library card holders and Medi-Cal and Cal Fresh program participants.

Conservatory of Flowers: First Tuesday of every month

de Young and Legion of Honor: First Tuesday of every month and free Saturdays for Bay Area residents.

Japanese Tea Garden: All visitors receiving food assistance (SNAP benefits) are offered free general admission.

Museum of Craft and Design: Pay What You Can Wednesdays and Medi-Cal or Cal Fresh programs can get 4 free admission passes each visit.

San Francisco Botanical Garden: Free every morning 7:30-9 AM and the second Tuesday of every month. It is also free for Medi-Cal and Cal Fresh program participants.

SFMOMA: Bay Area Residents can visit SFMOMA’s galleries on the first Thursday of each month from 4 to 8 PM. And, the next free family day is June 12th. Under 18 is always free.
