Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday 2018Today is Giving Tuesday.
And here are three important charitable organizations that we love to donate to. Hopefully, you will be inspired for your holiday giving as well.

Many people donate to these organizations for Thanksgiving. However, funds are needed year round to help the more vulnerable members of our community.

Meals on Wheels for Seniors
In our community the need for the services Meals on Wheels provides is more dire than ever. Half of Meals on Wheels funding comes from individual donors.

Alameda County Meals on Wheels delivers over 2,200 meals every week to homebound elders. Each delivery day, friendly drivers deliver nutritious meals to seniors. The daily caring check-in ensures a senior is well and reduces isolation and loneliness.

Alameda County Food Bank
Alameda County Community Food Bank has been in operation since 1985, with a vision toward a day when they can go out of business. They are the hub of a vast collection and distribution network that provides food for 240 nonprofit agencies in Alameda County. In 2015, the Food Bank distributed 25 million meals—more than half of the food was fresh fruits and vegetables.

One Warm Coat
Once a coat is no longer needed, you can donate it to someone in need. Donors are warmed by the knowledge that their coats will go directly to children, women and men in need.

One Warm Coat started in 1992 with a Thanksgiving weekend coat drive at one location in San Francisco. Since then, they have grown to a national organization supporting over 3,000 coat drives each year.
