This warming cocktail is made with hot apple cider, and spiked with bourbon and ginger liqueur. Cracked black pepper underscores the ginger’s subtle burn, and the cherries contribute to the fruitiness.

Hot Gingery Cider with Cracked Black Pepper
For best flavor, we prefer using fresh apple cider in this recipe. It is available in our dairy case.
Yields 2 cocktails.

8 ounces fresh apple cider
4 ounces bourbon
3 ounces ginger liqueur
Lemon juice to taste
4 Luxardo maraschino cherries
Cracked black pepper

In a small saucepan, bring the apple cider to a simmer, and remove from heat, stir in the bourbon and ginger liqueur. Add lemon juice to taste.

Divide cherries between two mugs, and pour in cider mixture. Grind a sprinkling of black pepper over top, and serve immediately.
