Plaid Friday on Piedmont Avenue November 23rd

Plaid Friday on Piedmont AvenueAvoid the Black Friday crowds, stay out of the malls, and shop local on Piedmont Avenue on the day after Thanksgiving. This Friday, November 23rd is Plaid Friday!

Plaid Friday brings back the days when shopping for friends and family during the holidays was pleasurable and leisurely.

The name Plaid Friday was conceived in Oakland from the idea of weaving the individual threads of small businesses together to create a strong fabric that celebrates the diversity and creativity of independent businesses. It is the relaxing and enjoyable alternative to the big box store “Black Friday,” and is designed to promote both local and independently owned businesses during the holidays.

Look for the special plaid placards at your local shops. Many of these businesses are offering specials during Plaid Friday. And you can help celebrate by wearing plaid while you shop.

And while you are in the neighborhood, stop by the store for a bowl of warm soup and salad, or something from our hot bar for lunch. We love to know you are supporting local businesses!
