Albeit a strange start, the 34th America’s Cup sailing regatta is certain to spark delightful activity in the form of boat races and great concerts — from the SF Symphony to Cheech and Chong, from Steely Dan to Train.

The America’s Cup runs from July 4th through September 21st, and includes the Louis Vuitton Cup, the Youth Cup, and the finals beginning on September 7th.

It is the most difficult trophy in sport to win. In the more than 150 years since that first race off the coast of England, only four nations have won what is often called the oldest trophy in international sport.
