The Greyhound

The GreyhoundThe Greyhound is a refreshing classic cocktail that is simple to make. And, it is perfect any time of day from brunch to nightcap. The list of ingredients requires nothing more than grapefruit juice and vodka or gin.

The history of the Greyhound Cocktail begins in the 1930s using gin, and as vodka became more popular in the 1950s, that was substituted. Now we have the option of using either or both depending on your personal preference. Another variation is the Salty Dog—simply coat the rim of the glass in lime and dip in salt.

The Greyhound can also be the base for experimentation. Try adding other fruit juices or use an infused vodka. It is generally served in a rocks glass over ice with a lime wedge for garnish.
