The Martinez

The MartinezConsidered by many bartenders to be the father to The Martini, The Martinez is comprised of ingredients you probably already have in your bar at home.

This cocktail is well suited for the weather we have on hand right now: cold enough for sweet vermouth, with enough flowers in bloom to compliment the bouquet of your favorite gin.

In a way, The Martinez can be seen as a cross between a Martini and a Manhattan.

The Martinez
1 ½ ounces Gin
3 ounces Sweet vermouth
2 dashes of Angostura bitters
1 bar spoon of Maraschino Liqueur

Stir all ingredients until well chilled. Strain into a martini/ stemmed glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon.
