Virtual Oakland Museum of California

Virtual Oakland Museum of CaliforniaOMCA has been building an extensive virtual collection for your enjoyment.
The Oakland Museum has been closed since the shelter-in-place restrictions went into effect last March. And, their plans to reopen with limited capacity and safety precautions were put on hold this past fall.

In the mean time, the Museum has been developing online offerings that make for a rich virtual visit. And, a the same time, they have been continuing construction plans to connect the museum with nearby Lake Merritt.

Virtual tours have taken the place of visits and school field trips. OMCA is digitizing a large part of their collection, and will even have a virtual White Elephant Sale in 2021.

So, take a moment and visit the OMCA website (hover over the On View tab) for a virtual tour of the collections including all their regular galleries plus the Dorothea Lang archive. There is so much there.

And, if you wish to support the museum during this difficult time, they are encouraging people to keep up memberships and also donate to their White Elephant Sale where you can schedule a pickup.
