Word Art at Oakland First Fridays

World Art at Oakland Fist FridaysThis Friday, March 6th from 5 to 9 PM, the Oakland First Fridays Street Festival takes place in downtown Oakland along Telegraph Avenue from West Grand Avenue to 27th Street.

And, on the first Friday of every month, Oakland Art Murmur (OAM) hosts an evening art walk featuring arts and mixed-use venues collectively open to the public.

OAM features free public walking tours, introducing hundreds of visitors to Oakland’s galleries and the artists they show while learning about topics like ceramics, drawing, textile approaches in art, starting a collection, street art in Oakland, and trends in contemporary art.

Visit the Oakland First Fridays website. Or, get the details about Oakland First Fridays on their Facebook page.

March 2020’s theme is Word Art
Human expression is manifested through language, from written words to verbal poetry to storytelling. The month of March is dedicated to the art that is created through the use and meaning of words. And…classic cars are back!

There is a Kid Zone and Black Rock Observatory will have telescopes for viewing the heavenly bodies. Artismobilus returns to Oakland First Fridays where everyone is invited to join in the creation of a giant, original piece of art created over the course of the evening.

And, a stellar lineup on the Main Stage including Mike Mitch, Manos Lindas, Controlled Burn, Jordan Davis Miller, Privet Property, Sweet HayaH, Solachi Voz and Lolita Sweet!

Plus there’s the usual array of art, craft, food and our Oakland community!
Oakland First Fridays is always free but donations are greatly appreciated to help keep the magic happening.
