2023 SF Chinese New Year Parade and Street FairThe 2023 SF Chinese New Year Parade is one of the few remaining night-illuminated Parades in North America and the biggest parade celebrating the lunar new year outside of Asia. Started in the 1860s by the Chinese in San Francisco as a means to educate the community about their culture, the Parade and Festival have grown to be the largest celebration of Asian culture outside of Asia.

This year there is a list of events around this annual celebration that include a Miss Chinatown pageant, a YMCA walk/run, a street fair, and the parade.

February 3rd: Miss Chinatown U.S.A. Pageant & Coronation Ball
Beautiful, talented, and bright young women from throughout the United States are still coming to San Francisco during Chinese New Year to compete for scholarships and prizes in the annual Miss Chinatown USA Pageant. Each year’s winners become goodwill ambassadors for the Chinese community throughout the new lunar year.

February 4th: 2023 SF Chinese New Year Parade
Named one of the top ten Parades in the world by the International Festivals & Events Association, the Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco is one of the few remaining night-illuminated Parades in North America and the biggest parade celebrating the Lunar New Year outside of Asia.

February 4th and 5th: Community Street Fair
The SF Chinese Chamber of Commerce has activities and entertainment for all ages. Enjoy Chinese folk dancing, opera, drumming, and much more at the entertainment stage in the heart of San Francisco Chinatown.
March 5th: Chinatown YMCA Run/Walk
The Chinatown YMCA, in San Francisco’s historic Chinatown, is holding its 45th annual Chinese New Year Run in 2023.
