The Second Annual Chinatown Lion Dance Festival is a conglomeration of culture and community celebration with captivating performances. Spend a day in Chinatown enjoying Chinese culture, shopping, and delicious restaurant food.

The Lion Dance Festival is a collaborative effort set against the vibrant backdrop of San Francisco Chinatown. There will be more than 10 prominent lion dance groups, hailing from many states including Washington and Texas. Join this truly captivating exhibition that fosters a spirit of friendly competition.

The most common loin dancing is the Southern Lion, which originated in the Guangdong province in China and has existed for over 1,500 years. The Chinese Lions symbolize virtue, intelligence, wisdom, longevity, strength, and courage. Loin dancing uplifts and revitalizes SF’s Chinatown while offering this ancient art form to our community.
