Happy First Day of Spring

Happy First Day of Spring from Piedmont GroceryTuesday, March 20th is the vernal equinox. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, at exactly 12:15 PM the Earth’s tilt is a 0º in relation to our sun. It is the day when the sun rises in the east and sets in the west for everyone across the world. Thus, the first day of spring is here!

The first day of spring is celebrated around the world. Today is Nooruz, the Persian New Year. People in Iran, Kosovo, Turkey, and many other nations across the Middle East and Asia celebrate the New Year on or around March 20th every year. In Japan, the spring equinox, or Shunbun no Hi, is celebrated by visiting ancestral graves and having family reunions.

But, what we are most excited about is all the glorious spring produce that is coming to our market. Here are some of our staff favorite spring recipes.
