Liber Tea Cocktail

If you are looking for a refreshing cocktail to celebrate the 4th, we have an aptly named and refreshing suggestion. The Liber Tea is basically a boozy, herbal Arnold Palmer. The spirit of choice is bourbon and crushed basil lends botanical notes.

A pitcher of Liber Tea is perfect for summer outdoor gatherings. And, you can mix up the flavors by substituting rum, vodka, or even Tequila. The base of tea, lemonade, and honey goes well with any spirit.

Liber Tea Cocktail Recipe

Yields 4 servings

Ingredients
4 black tea bags
4 cups lemonade
1 cup fresh basil
1/2 cup bourbon
1 1/2 cups honey liqueur
Garnish: lemon wheels

Directions
Brew the tea
In a large saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Remove the water from the heat and add the tea bags. Allow the tea to steep for 8 minutes and then discard the bags.

Chill the lemon tea
Add the lemonade and 2 cups of cold water to the tea. Transfer the mixture to a pitcher and chill.

Mix the cocktail
Stir the basil into the tea and muddle it or crush it with a spoon until it releases its fragrance. Stir in the bourbon and the honey liqueur.

To serve
Fill 4 tall glasses with ice and divide the Liber Tea between them. Garnish each glass with a lemon wheel.
