The inaugural SF Jazz Festival took place in 1983 as a two-day event, then called Jazz in the City. Since then, it has become a globally-renowned event.

This year’s festival features 41 shows in 13 days at 4 venues in Hayes Valley. Highlights include Jazzmeia Horn, José James, Orquesta Akokán, The Cookers, William Bell, Roy Ayers and many more.

June 11th is the free block party and festival kickoff celebration starting at 5 PM at the PROXY outdoor theater in Hayes Valley at the corner of Octavia & Hayes Streets. Featuring Royal Jelly Jive, La Mixta Criolla, Jazz Film, & a beer garden and food trucks. More information can be found here.
