Super Bowl Eats

Super Bowl EatsIf you are planning Super Bowl eats for this weekend’s game (or just planning food for the weekend), we have put together some of our favorite game day recipes to make Sunday’s game a winner regardless of who is playing on the field. (Well, maybe next year 49ers?)

Burgers
Amy’s Juicy Lucy Burgers
If you have never tried your burgers this way, we highly recommend that you do. You may never go back to the ordinary cheese on top. This is one of the only times we will say that American Cheese is a must. But, mild or medium cheddar is an acceptable substitute.

Spicy Turkey Burgers
We recommend first cooking up a small test burger to check that the degree of spiciness and seasoning is to taste. That way, if you are not too keen on spice, you can add the chili paste gradually.

Southern Shrimp Burgers
If you are looking for alternatives to the classic beef burger the good news is that there are plenty of options. One of our favorites is this shrimp burger. It is great when you want something burger-ish but also a little different.

Spiced Lamb Sliders with Harissa Mayonnaise and Cucumber
These are the bomb! They are the perfect finger food, and therefore they are perfect for your Super Bowl spread…with or without the game.

Black Bean Veggie Burgers
These flavorful burgers are great for vegans, veggies, and anyone cutting back on meat.

Noodles
Bacon Cheeseburger Pasta
You may be skeptical…granted, not everything has to be haute cuisine. And, people have been eating cheeseburger mac for decades. There is a chance that will love this recipe and crave it for the rest of your days…much like an actual cheeseburger.

Andouille Mac & Cheese
This recipe is soooo good. Definitely not diet food, but perfect for a game day buffet.

Mac & Cheese Two Ways
This recipe is delicious two ways, either as baked macaroni, or a creamy, stovetop macaroni. Your choice, depending upon how your day is going. (It takes an extra 20 to 25 minutes to bake, and it is definitely worth it on a good day!)

And, to make basic Mac & Cheese a bit more fun, you can consider frying up some bacon and caramelizing a white onion for toppers. You can place them in separate bowls on the table along with some chopped chives or other herbs, and people can top their Mac & Cheese as they wish.

Tacos
Turkey Tacos Picadillo
These American-style tacos are a guilty pleasure. We sometimes call them mock-tacos. Ground turkey makes for a great taco filling—and we add plenty of flavor with the spice mix.

Citrus Marinated Chicken Tacos
This recipe is an oldie but a goodie. You can add a little tequila to the marinade if you are feeling sassy…

Classic Ensenada Fish Tacos
These classic fish tacos totally hit the spot!

Grilled Skirt Steak Tacos with Roasted Poblano Rajas
It is going to be plenty warm and dry this weekend to brush off the grill. Try these fantastic tacos—a real crowd-pleaser!

Ribs
Oriental Barbecued Ribs
The original recipe came from Bon Appetit Magazine way back in the dark ages, which probably accounts for the embarrassing name of the recipe. The ribs are tasty, fall off the bone, and are a nice change from the usual “saucy” ribs. Make sure you marinate them overnight. It makes all the difference. And definitely save some of the marinade for basting while they are on the grill.

Gochujang Spare Ribs
This recipe is very approachable for those who aren’t ready for the deep dive into Korean cuisine. It can be used with either baby back or spare ribs—both work well.

Cherry Cola Ribs
You’ve gotta try these. They’re the bomb! They are also extremely addictive.
