What a fantastic idea…use local movie theaters to show performances—including opera, dance, and concerts—that would otherwise not be available due to distance. Plus they there are no bad seats in the house…and it’s a fraction of the cost.

Three catch our eye this month:

Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles (The Pearl Fishers) will be presented live on Saturday, January 16th.

The Taming of the Shrew, performed and broadcast from the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow,  on Sunday, January 24th.

Puccini’s Turandot  will be broadcast live from the Metropolitan Opera on Saturday, January 30th.
