Wintery Julep

Warming rather than cooling, its simple to prepare. Plus, this minty julep goes well with all the winter holidays flavors and will keep you toasty on a chilly day!

Wintery Julep Recipe
Adapted from Imbibe Magazine
Yields one cocktail

Ingredients
1-1/2 ounces bourbon
1/4 ounce brown sugar syrup
1 bag of peppermint tea (or 1 teaspoon of dried peppermint leaves)
Hot water
Mint sprig for garnish

Directions
Make the brown sugar syrup
Combine equal parts of dark brown sugar and boiling water. There is no need to cool it before making the recipe. Keep any leftovers in the fridge in a covered jar. It is great for adding to coffee and other beverages.

Make the tea
Warm up a glass mug or Irish Coffee glass https://piedmontgrocery.com/irish-coffee/ with hot water. Then pour out the water and refill the glass with 5 ounces of fresh boiling water. Insert the teabag and brew the tea for 4 minutes.

Mix the cocktail
Remove the bag and add the bourbon and brown sugar syrup. Stir to combine. Garnish with a mint sprig.
